homelessness in North Texas

A stable home environment is a foundation for education, income and health. Kids need secure housing to do well in school, adults need safe and affordable homes to get and keep good-paying jobs, and families need the security of home to achieve physical and emotional wellness.

In a typical year, almost half of all local families experience housing instability.

Together with our partners, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas provides a continuum of services to prevent evictions, help those experiencing homelessness and support affordable housing across our region.

We formed the Dallas Rental Assistance Collaborative (DRAC) in July 2020, bringing together local organizations to provide North Texans up to $1,500 per month in rental and utility assistance for up to 15 months. In the past year, DRAC has directly impacted more than 3,150 households.
