College Readiness

Across North Texas, tens of thousands of high schoolers are on the verge of graduation—which makes May the perfect time to consider how to prepare younger generations for success in college or career.

Along with education and health, financial stability is one of the building blocks of opportunity. But it doesn’t happen overnight. A steady income is the result of a good education and effective career training.

74 percent of young adults in North Texas don’t earn a living wage.

Together, we can change that—and it’s why college and career readiness is one of our focus areas. United Way creates, leads and invests in programs that give students strong pathways to financial security, while also enabling young adults to get and keep better jobs.

United Way Pathways to Work is one program that does just that, empowering North Texans with the training they need to succeed in high-demand industries. Interested in learning more? Click the video link to see our commitment to college and career readiness in action.
